NYABING HOTEL

Nyabing - A country community purchased a local hotel and re-developed as a community centre incorporating a tavern, community resource centre and new motel accommodation. Given budget constraints and rural location, an industrial design approach was adopted.

The structure is based on a portal framed shed with extensive glazing to the north to exploit winter sun. The internal layout, which features a central bar and kitchen area, allows the building to be manageable for minimal numbers of staff.

Function room space doubles as additional licensed area and community meetings purposes. In addition, office and conference room spaces fulfilled short term occupancy needs of medical services or business consulting groups.

Twelve motel style units complete the re-development. A fantastic enterprising development by a local community. Rewarding involvement with a group of people passionate to the longevity of their community.
